climbing phosphate low nitrate

I agree that ratios are not worth chasing. Your phosphate is a bit high. If I were you I would not dose anything. I would not yet run any GFO. I would simply feed much less. Just cut your feeding way down for a day or two and retest po4. I guarantee it will drop.
I just worry if I stop feeding my nitrate will bottom out. I guess I only have zoas so it wouldn't be a big deal but I also picked up a flameangel last week and I don't want to starve him :/

But I have reduced the size of my feedings lately and I am trying to pick up some frags so hopefully some corals will help filter it :)

I use some brightwell stuff too. They make some good products, but that doesn’t mean they don’t also sell some snake oil. Agree to disagree on the phosphate-E. I don’t think its any safer or meaningfully different than any other other LaCl. More likely you don’t have tangs or just lucky.

Randy is basically the reef chemistry “oracle” and has written countless reference articles on the subject. He is a household name for most reefers and I’m kind of stunned you’ve never heard of him LOL.
I do have a gem tang and he has never been affected by it, yea I’ve been in the hobby going on 32 year’s now and don’t know who Randy is and i read a lot

I feel like our discussion has degraded and I really just want to shake your hand and wish you happy reefing LOL. Its pretty hard to argue with 32 years experience. But you really should check out Randy’s stuff since you haven’t stumbled upon it yet somehow. He also moderates the Reef Chemistry forum on here. Here is a good collection of his articles: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/author/rhf.php

It’s all good brother, and I will definitely look into Randy and check out his articles, I always like to read new stuff, and one of the most important things I’ve learned throughout my reefing career is no matter how much time you have in the hobby is to always remain teachable, never think that you have enough time in to know it all, I would say over the past three years. I’ve learned so much new stuff from a lot of different people, even one young reefer that I know, a young lady from down in Florida she’s 21 and I think she has around four years in the hobby, but she is very knowledgeable on what she is doing and I’ve definitely learned a few things from her
