Close thread question

Something I've always wondered about. I often see folks ask a mod to please close a thread for this or that reason especially in the for sale section. I wonder, do the mods actually close the thread or no?
Just curious.

Close a thread means that the thread gets locked, and no further comments/posts may be made. You will see a little lock icon on your screen. And yes, if the mods see it and it's for reason, it gets locked.
