I setup my closed UV system. So how it works basically i pump water from the display back to the display. Using vectra s2 pump thats currently sitting outside the tank. Now the problem is it works. But the issue at max speed of the s2 i only get 572 gph with the pump maxed out. Before i tear the system down. Is there any benefit to run that low gph on the system for the UV my UV is aquaclear 57 watts. The bottle neck in my system is the 3/4 runs. As the pump is the bottleneck.

Now before i freakout and tear the system down. Is 480gph-500gph any good for dinos or anything or needs stronger flow? Thank you. Tank size is 200G

Curious, what size tank and what is the head height from pump? Have you calibrated the S2?

Wait u said calibrated the s2? I did not no. I didnt know thats a thing. 200 gallons tank 150 display and 50 sump.

The flow rate through the sterilizer, for it to kill any free swimming dinoflagellates that pass through it, should be between 65 to 100gph. For larger aqauriums the flow rate should be 90 to 200gph.

most likely won't kill them completely but will neuter them ;)

Oh okay thats good then

i had 3 bouts with a mix of Ostreopsis and Prorocentrum

UV works best on the free floating Ostreopsis. The combo of lower flow and raising nutrients worked wonders for me

For better or worse, yes they can (and should) be calibrated. However, I have not yet been able to successfully calibrate mine according to EcoTech's directions. It can be done via Mobius or the Controller.

To slow the flow down considerably, I used a Two Little Fishies ATL5455W Ball Valve on the return side of the S2.
