Any body with 8 ft long and bigger aquariums running a closed loop i here pros and cons about them

I should not comment because I have never had one, but I have a seen lot of reefers getting away from closed loops due to the cost of running large pumps and the efficiency of new power heads/wave makers that push a ton of water.

Mine is only a 6' tank with a closed loop, but I did plumb a 275 gallon 8' tank for a friend.
Uses a Hammerhead. Pretty nice way of creating a lot of flow in the tank without a bunch of powerheads and wires all over the place.
While the hammerhead is a little noisy for my tastes, my friend says she hears the sound of the pumps ( noisy genx return pump) and she knows everything is running.

Leaves through a wall bulkhead with a spa strainer and comes back in through 4 holes in the bottom.
