Anyone run a closed loop system
I would like to add some more flow to my tank and feel this maybe the only way to do that.
My tank panels are to thick for more pump that use magnets.
I have an extra 1.5" pipe in my overflow I could connect to. This would be the input of the closed loop.
Not sure if the would hurt my durso pipe that feeds the sumps. The Durso input would be above the closed loop input because the pipes are close together and the overflow is small. I got the tank used and just closed off one of the pipes.
I would think the overflow level would stay the same.
I would then return over the top to 10 1" outputs. 2 on one end and 4 on each brace.

Any thought about this?

You will suck the overflow dry and cavitate your pump... You need to make sure the closed loop supply is as large as the pump inlet and keep it submerged 100% of the time...

I have always run them and love them.

That is my biggest issue, not sure how to keep the overflow full. I have an 1.5 inch pipe in there. So maybe a 1" inlet on the pump would work.

I know your taking about closed loops but why not get some big Tunze and the Tunze rock?

I used to have a closed loop, the pump was a energy hog and made everything hot so I wasn't too impressed with it. Plus I had to move rocks to get to the intakes to clean them out....

How thick is your glass that you can't add magnetic powerheads?

Personally I like the look of the closed loop better than a bunch of pumps and cords in the tank... To do it right you will need to drill another hole in the tank. If it is full that will be hard so you may be stuck going with additional powerheads...
