I've got a frag of 2 polyps of paly... Added about 2 weeks ago was doing fine, but they've closed up for about 2 days now. Upon advice from the lfs i moved the frag a bit higher up the tank onto a new rock for more light.

Any advice? Do they do this? Like, close up for days but later just bounce back? First time my nem shriveled and closed up i had a small panic moment until the next few hours it had ballooned up again... Then i realised they do that regularly...

Leave it in high light for 12 days and if still bad try giving it less light for 12 days

12 days? Wow...

I'm wondering if it will even last that long... I thought if they were closed up, they wouldn't be photosynthesising... And if that were the case... They could last that long?

Moving them puts a lot of stress on them. If they are open make sure to spot feed them to help.

hi did you dip them before adding?

yes if still not opening

My zoas weren't happy when my alk was high and nutrients low so I dropped my alk to around 8.5 dkh and they seemed to improve. Zoas prefer dirtier water anyway so maybe you could slowly get those nitrates up as well.

yes if still not opening
It's still closed up... So i decided to dip it. 6 minutes in brightwell koral md pro. During the dip i used a syringe to squirt the liquid at it... Kept it well agitated and noticed some fluff blowing off. Dunno if it's just detritus, or decomposing coral tissue...
Rinsed in tank water, then repositioned back in the tank.

My lfs said as long as the body is not melting, there's hope... So here's hoping for the best...
