Closing off overflow

Hi All,
I have a an extra 65g Deep Blue tank with a standard corner overflow that I would like to repurpose as a QT. For this purpose, I don't wish to utilize the sump and just want to use it as if it weren't drilled/had no overflow. Obviously, I could just keep the water level below the level of the overflow weir, but I was wondering if it could be blocked off in some way just in case for safety sake. For instance, I was thinking I could just glue some pvc plugs on the standpipe and return bulkheads. I was wondering if anyone had any more clever/practical ideas though

I would cap it with some threaded pvc fitting and pvc cap.

I would connect them together under the tank so you could change it back later

Thanks for the reply. Any specific reason for threaded? I can make it happen, but all of my fittings are slip.

My bad, wasn't thinking. I did my sump like that. It's a old 125 gallon. Mine were threaded. Slip, just a piece of pvc and a cap. Primer the pieces and glue them. Done.
