hi Dana ,I am interest in finding/picking your brain if any information is available about using cloud program,I have seen it quoted on orphek Facebook by a Japanese gentleman as being scientifically proved as useful for sps coral but can find no proof or links,or find any detail of his use.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards graham.

There are discussions both ways of people saying that it's good for them as it mimics their natural environment. And others say it's a waste of programming and is not necessary. Me personally, in my opinion, in a reef tank it's more for aesthetics. And don't get me wrong, I have my lights programmed to do cloud cover on my tank. But is it necessary for the health of your corals?...most likely not.

@Dana Riddle Your thoughts?

Hi crabs yes that is about where I am,I like the effect and can convince myself corals look better for a brief rest especially lps,I did read some search info that reefs can create their own weather to some extent,seems a bit of a stretch to a layman like me but it peaked my interest. Hence the post.

I experimented with my Radions with the cloud and lightning features available with WXM module. I tried them both for a day until my wife said to stop it, you're scaring the fish and I'm about to have a seizure. lol. I'm in the same boat as Crabs. Don't think things like that are really necessary.

Surely in the tropics reefs are getting full sun all day, all season. Don't see any point in a few 'breaks' from the sun.
