I have a QT/frag tank set up for incoming corals and inverts. I added about 50 snails/hermits two weeks ago, and since then the water has gotten so cloudy I can't even see to the back of the tank.
I did a 90% water change and it went away, but was back to cloudy in about 3 days.
Tank: ~22 gallons
Temp: 82 keep it high to accelerate QT.
Ammonia: 0 (red sea)
Nitrate: 0.0 (Hanna, this is a little suprising as my DT is around 5, I assume algae growing in the frag tank is bottoming it out)
Water Changes: 10% daily (it gets the auto water change from my DT which I then remove the equivalent amount every day.
Lighting: ~100 Par evenly over the bottom of the tank.
HOB filter with filter floss + 150 gph powerhead + 200 gph carbon (carbon has done nothing to remove the color)
The carbon isn't removing it so I think that rules out dissolved organics. It doesn't look like algae to me. Is it bacteria bloom? Anything I can do other then keep changing water and waiting it out? The snails don't seem to mind but I'm hesitant to get any more coral frags with it like this.
