So I bought this fish because it looks cool but now he thinks he owns my 40 gallon bow front tank and bullies the rest of my fish, specially my flame hawckfish “George” my hawckfish would be all over the tank and as soon as I bought this bullie my george rarely comes out of his little area, I consider him a bullie because he likes to chase my chromis and goes to George and he like flaps his body against him like provoking it and he will stay like almost on top of him for a while flapping his body , I placed the dascyllus in my refigium right now and I’ll probably be taking him back to the store, what do you guys think about these fish, I heard these fish are very territorial and I get worried that if I keep him he will starve my defenseless George to death

they are to be avoided

if you want a damsel, stick to the chrysiptera ones.. maybe some of the pomacentrus ones
Thanks for the reply, I will check those out, I would love to have a mandarin but I’m having trouble keeping copepods inside my refugium, they either end up in my tank and get eaten or inside my filter sock...

i don't have a mandarin, but your rocks look pretty new. most people say to successfully keep a mandarin you need a 50+ gallon tank with a decent refugium, and the tank needs to be up for over a year so the pods have had time to establish. and then don't have any other pod eaters in there. i can't have a mandarin because i have two halichoeres wrasses and they would outcompete a mandarin. my tank is now at the year and a half mark and pods are everywhere in my sump, but none in the DT

Yeah I hear patience needs to be your best friend in this hobby lol

Dascyllus genus damsels like that one, 3 stripe, domino are arguably the worst. They get large and really aggressive.

As mentioned, you want a Chrysiptera damsel like yellow tail, saphire, talbot, etc.

Thanks for the response yeah he is definitely going back to the store
