I’ve been looking at some previous posts about cloudy eyes in a clownfish and they all say it’s a bacterial infection. My clown is eating great and is in QT right now as I got the pair 2 days ago for observation. Not on any medication yet as the only symptom I’ve seen is the cloudy eyes in the one. There is a small wound on the side of him that probably happened at the LFS. Is there any recommended medications for this? Other than that, both clowns ended up bonding and love each other.

I think the best thing to do would be to keep feeding him and make sure the water quality is as pristine as possible. Hopefully the cloudy eye will clear up on its own. You have to be careful because clowns can be very violent with each other as they’re mating. If you notice that, it might be a good idea to remove the good clown until the sick clown gets better and you could put them back together. If the eye starts to bulge and becomes what they call pop-eye, you might try erythromycin in the QT. Definitely leave the sick clown in QT until the eye issue is cleared up. And keep the water clean, testing ammonia levels every day and doing water changes if it starts to creep up.

Water is RODI and I do weekly water changes on both my tanks. When I feed, I clean up all scraps since this is my QT with no CUC. I did notice that the first day they were together, they were pushing on each other hard but it had this mark and cloudy eyes when I brought it home. I work from home so I’ll have to pay attention more. Thank you for the advice!

Sounds like you got everything under control. Keep us posted on your fish’s progress. Good luck.

Thank you! He is eating great and swimming around and acting fine, just his eyes so wanted to start something to help before it gets worse. I love these fish!
Well that is fantastic. Great job being proactive.
