I added my fish to my 40g QT tank yesterday. It had been cycling for about 2 months, seeded with Dr. Tims then had a fish it in since. I did add quiet a few fish and fed today, garlic soaked brine. I doesn't appear any went un eaten.

Tank has a skimmer and BioWheel filter with 2 power heads to keep thing suspended. Barebottom with 3" PVC fitting for hides.

Ammonia badge reads 0 (yellow). Im slowly adding CopperPower, I'm a little under half dose right now.

Is this a bacterial bloom? I had a piece of Nori rubberband to a rock for my tang today. Also I've been lighting the tank with a cheap LED for about 10 hours.

I can check nitrates, but wasn't sure if the copper will give me a false reading.

It could be a bacterial bloom. You can do a water change or wait it out. The simmer should add plenty of oxygen.

Thanks for the quick response. Everyone seems fine this morning.

Do you know if a api nitrate kit is still accurate during copper treatment? I got somewhat of a high reading so I'll be doing a 50% wc today to be safe.

I'm not too sure.... testing nitrate has never been a priority since it isn't toxic to fish. However, a water change never hurts and usually helps!
