I think it's an Arabian Angelfish (Arusetta Asfur). I'h had him/her for about three months. When I put hh in copper it didn't go well, so hh never got a full treatment . No medication for twomonths now, and no problem, until today. I suspect eye flukes or popeye, but I'm faaaaaar from an expert. Help!!

Thank you. Here is the best I could do.

From this angle it looks like flukes… I believe that’s one attached on the front of the eye… and the discoloration in the face and gill area point to the same thing… flukes can get out of a control real fast and wipe out all of your other fish. Best to put everything into QT and leave the tank fallow for at least 2 months

...at least 2... weeks, months? I have one clown trigger, the sick angel and 8 yellow foxfaces. Sand, and Siporax media in the sump. What is the recommended treatment protocol? Can I just do it in this tank with all the affected fish? Thanks for your time.

2 months… it should say that. You can treat the tank as long as there are no sensitive inverts in the tank. Treatment will kill them all… typically a freshwater dip and prazi treatment. You should give this a read

Thanks. Just dipped him. TONS of fish scale size flukes. I will read and follow.

Flukes and possible bacterial. If you positively identified flukes, consider a prazi pro treatment. When treating with prazi, do note that it will curb appetite and lower oxygen. Therefore, increase oxygen such as use of an air stone and assure good water quality
IF it is eating, add liquid vitamins such as Selcon vitamins to its foods

If you saw flukes in the container after a dip, those are Neobenedenia (other flukes need a microscope or magnifying glass to see). Neo is tough to control with Praziquantel. They have an egg stage that can take 30 days to hatch, and the eggs are tough and not affected by prazi. You can try prazi three times, 7 days apart, but if even a single egg remains unhatched, the disease can start up again. My favorite treatment is half salinity for 35 days. That kills the adults and keeps the eggs from hatching until they all die. You need to go to 16 ppt, or around 1.012. Of course, you can't do that with invertebrates present. Then, you need to gradually raise the salinity back to normal over 4 or 5 days.

That looks freaky zombie fish!!!
Okay, I know how to deal with REAL zombies, but Harvard doesn't even offer a FISH zombie program. I'm going to enquire at Dr. Pete's College of Fishy Knowledge as to whether they offer such a course.

GREAT ADVICE. 1. I'm pretty new to R2R. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to reply to a lot of different responses, with the right reply going to the intended responder. Is that sentence confusing enough? I'm even MORE confused.
2. I'm sure that you, Jay, are particularly knowledgeable from both a scientific and experiential standpoint. Is there any way for me to view your advice on various subjects WITHOUT first going to a thread that you may or may not have participated in?
3. WHAT IS THE SAFE TIME PERIOD IN WHICH TO LOWER THE SALINITY FROM 1,025 TO 1.012, AND IS 35 DAYS AT THAT SALINITY TRULY SAFE FOR FOXFACE, CLOWN TRIGGER AND THE ANGEL? Thank you very much.

1) just reply directly to the persons post and they will get flagged to read it.
2) try reading the posts at the top of the fish disease section. These are called stickies, and contain specific information.
3) You can drop salinity pretty fast, certainly by thirds, over 72 hours is fine. Just take at least five days to raise it though. No - all treatments have risks, I can’t say this will be 100% safe, just that it is much safer than doing nothing, and more effective than Prazipro.

Finished 7 days of Prazi. HUGE amount of foam in sump. Anybody know why? Now, 3 days after the end of the prazi, beginning 72 hour drop to 1.012 at 81 degrees for 35 days, then back up over 7 days. Angel looks really good, is starting to eat again and is more active. the Foxfaces and clown trigger all appear normal to the naked eye.
THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYBODY.

Praziquantel (and the solvent, if you used prazopro) are rapidly degraded by bacteria, that causes the foaming in some instances. You should increase aeration, and skimming, and change some of the water.

Did it. All fish in that tank are now at 1.016, and I'm going down to 1.12 today and tomorrow. Angel looks great. I'm going to dip all the fish for 4 minutes when they get down to .12, then 30 days and a week back up. Sound good to you? and thanks again.

I don't think you need to put them through a dip on the front end like that, I've never needed to do that....I will sometimes hold the fish for two weeks once back to full salinity and then do a diagnostic dip, just to ensure I got them...
