Hi everyone!
I setup a tank about a month and a half ago. I used BioSpira at startup for cycling. Everything has been going great! Water parameters seem pretty stable. A few days ago I noticed A TON of little white specs throughout the tank...then I noticed that they were alive and moving! From reading online, I’m guessing these are copepods? I’m also understanding that these aren’t a bad thing? They seemed to clean up a lot of algae really quick! Yesterday, I started to notice that the tank is getting pretty cloudy with small white dust-like particles. Some of these particles are alive and some do not appear to be. I’m also noticing coralline growing faster than it previously was and tiny ‘fuzz’ all over the dry rock. It looks like this fuzz has some air in it and it releases very small bubbles into the tank. I turned off my wavemaker just to make sure it is not kicking up sand or something. I’m wondering if this is some sort of bacteria bloom? If so, hopefully good bacteria. Any thoughts / ideas? I’m mostly worried about the livestock in my tank. As I read more, I’m realizing that it probably wasn’t the best idea to start adding livestock right away...but I was too excited / impatient...and now we’re here. Haha! Should I let this run its course or do I need to take action with a big water change or something? It’s hard to see in pictures, but I attached a few. Thanks!

All part of what some call the "new tank uglies." Bacterial, algae blooms are very common. Regular tank maintenance, regular water changes are the normal path.

Thanks! Yeah, I’m ready for the new tank uglies to be over, haha! It is interesting to watch though!

Some of the cloudiness in the water may be copepod nauplii (babies). The rest is probably a bacteria bloom, which should clear up in a few days.
