I have a small (5.5 gallon) invert qt tank that’s been going almost a month without issues, but this last week it got extremely cloudy and the one coral in there (GSP) closed up.

Did a ~80% water change two days ago, water cleared up, GSP tentatively opening, but then today it’s starting to cloud up again, haven’t added any food since the water change

Tank inhabitants:
3 emerald crabs
6 snails
3 hermit crabs
1 GSP frag
Plenty of rock

Seachem tag, Red Sea and API tests all agree no ammonia. Nitrates are also close to zero, if not actually zero.

All inhabitants are accounted for, is there anything obvious that would be causing this?

Treatment is another water change?

I couldn’t tell ya… do you dose anything? What’s in the tank? Did it start with live rock? How often do you feed? Lots of variables… what do you have for filtration? Do you run carbon?

No dosing. Feeding the crabs TDS pellets, and they’re eating algae on the rocks. Approx 50:50 live and dry rock. Maybe 8 lbs rock total, little HOB filter for circulation.

Are these blooms bad for the coral/critters, or just kinda ugly?

Just ugly..it does drop the 02 levels in the tank if that’s what it is.. have something break the surface of the water to help.. they will subside when it all balances out.. a picture might help.. carbon also if it’s something else going on.
