I am unsure whether it is due to sand dust or algae, I will adjust light settings and schedule though

If that’s the case a UV sterilizer should fix it also. If it’s the type that breaks down in the water column. I could be wrong but I don’t think that if it breaks down it’ll make your water cloudy.

Been looking for uv sterilizers for 20gallon tanks, may have found a 5w uv sterilizer, would that be too powerful?
