So yesterday I came back from work to a cloudy tank and turned it was the skimmer overflowing all day after feeding reef roids the day before. I sorted that and it cleared up, but now this morning it's very cloudy but it's not the skimmer, all fish seem accounted for from what I can tell so I don't think it's a dead fish. What could it be?
Although also my orp did take a dive yesterday and I wasn't sure why. Usually its like 390 - 410 and it shot down to 220 in the space of half hour after turning skimmer off. So maybe a death I can't see?

Any swings in numbers?

Sounds like you could have a possible bacteria bloom due to the feeding of reefroids?

Was it a larger feeding than normally?

You can try some extra surface agitation to bring the oxygen level up incase there is a bloom or if there is a fish missing/dead.

Only the orp which I could see on fusion I haven't tested anything else since Sunday my tests day but have just sent an icp off. I think Il test nutrients and alk now though.

Wasn't really larger than normal about the same as i always do weekly. But I'm inclined to agree with you on bacterial bloom just unsure what caused it.

I do also use ozone and increased that dosage after a bit of an ich outbreak the other day

Oh and I did add some prime to the tank yesterday just incase of ammonia!

How are you dosing it? Those that use it in the skimmer have carbon as well after.

An ozone overdose usually comes with reports of a strong smell...

I personally don't use it but it sounds like you may have started a bac bloom with the bumb in ozone dosage.

Am dosing it through the skimmer and have carbon and gfo in a reactor but not near skimmer outflow. It's in the return section.
Although I suppose with the skimmer constantly overflowing all day ozone could have got in to the sump and display?
I have turned it back down just in case though.
I don't know about smell my wife was saying there was a strong rotten smell but I assumed that would be from the skimmer I'm thinking ozone overdose smell would be more rainforesty/lightning stormy lol

That definitely sounds like it could have been the case with the skimmer overflowing.

If it doesn't clean within the day you may want to add some extra carbon.

Do you have a controlled set up or are you just dripping some into the skimmer cup?

Yeah, thanks il definitely replace carbon.
Yeah so I have the ozone generator plugged in to my apex and its controlled by the orp so should turn off at 440 mv. Skimmer intake goes out to a window and generator outlet in to the skimmer intake hose.

Seems like it's set up well, so I'd let the new carbon do its thing and then if it's still cloudy we can look elsewhere.

Update its clearing up, it's still slightly cloudy but I noticed a film on the glass which was making the water look cloudier than it was, its strange maybe some sort of precipitation.
