Hello all,

I am new to the forums and am seeking help with my tank! I have a biocube 14 that has been going well for quite some time now. It is stocked with only soft corals and a couple of clowns. I purchased an AI Prime light for the tank and hooked it up to the tank this past Sunday. Starting yesterday, the tank has become cloudy, so I checked all parameters and everything besides pH was in range. pH measured about 7.8, so I added some buffer. Could the cloudiness be something with the new light added?? I figured if bacteria was the culprit, my nitrates and ammonia would have spiked. Thanks!

Welcome to Reef2reef!

Was it a clear cloudy?

A bacterial bloom would do the opposite, lower ammoina and no3 as they eat it.

A fwiw , most don’t use ph buffers in reef tanks , as it’s alkalinity. And unless measured and dosed as alkalinity it can cause problems.

I would tend twards a bacteria bloom , becuse bacteria exhale co2 and lower ph.
