Hi, I’m new here so I hope I got the right category for this :)
I started to remove Cupramine with Polyfilters and Carbon from my 75g DT on Monday this week (5 days ago), and it’s become pretty cloudy over the last couple days..
Is this a normal thing too see as perhaps algae or bacteria is blooming post Cupramine treatment?
or would that be unrelated?

on a separate note, my coral beauty is showing some cotton/fluff sort of stuff on the outside of its gills, it doesn’t look like ich to me, but I could be wrong or maybe the removal of copper caused something to happen to him?
He had something similar at the base of its fins for weeks and then it went away, but it was all clear for more than a week now.
He hasn’t flashed or appeared upset. And has been eating fine

any help would be awesome :)

many thanks!

Hey welcome to reef2reef. I would recommend you try putting it back in and see if it solves the problem then you know what you up against. Is it possible you disturbed some sediment or something like that, it’s very unlikely for it to be an bacterial bloom in this case but possible. As far as the fish goes has he had any abnormal behaviors swimming funny, gasping for breath, not eating, hiding?

edit: I also just realized if you added new carbon and didn’t rinse it first that can really turn your water cloudy as well.
