I was getting ready to do a water change before going out of town but when I opened my 2 20g containers that I store extra salt water in they're both super cloudy. I went ahead and took out 2 5g buckets of water from them and I'm heating them and mixing them with a small pump. If they don't clear up I don't feel comfortable using the water right before I go out of town for a week.

Is it normal for your extra water to get really cloudy like that?

So I tested the water for nitrates and it has .25. Is it normal to have a very small amount of nitrates in your extra salt water? Or is that bad?

Should be Zero. Several things could be causing it. I would first check the TDS of the water you're using to mix the salt. Is it RO/DI?

Yeah that was the problem. I have a rodi system and the last time I checked it was zero but I just checked it today and now it's 002. Unfortunately I don't have the time to do anything about it now. So I spoke to my lfs and I'm going to hold off on doing the water change for now because my parameters in the tank are fine. Them when I get back I'll get some water from them until I can figure out what's up with my rodi. I've only been using it a few months.
