Hi ,

Water is cloudy in the 5th day of cycling tank with dry rocks , siporax , seachem matrix and a Deltec sc1350 skimmer .
Tank has been setup using Aquaforest Prodibiotic salt and dosing Bio S at 3 drops per day .
Used pure ammonia the first day as a food source for the bacteria .

I believe I wrongly dropped a couple drops more yesterday .

Question is - should I continue to drop Bio S at 3 drops every day for 14 days or reduce the dosage ?

Tank is 80 gallons ..

Is there any reason you are adding Bio S at all this early in your cycle?

Have you tested your ammonia to see where it is at?

@Brew12 - thanks for the reply ..
Well I think Bio S is supposed to be used this early during the cycling phase .Its Pro Bio S that should be used later .

As far as ammonia goes , I haven't checked it yet ..will pick up a Salifert today to test it .

You are absolutely correct!

I would not reduce the dosage unless ammonia is >10ppm since that has the ability to halt your cycle.

Any chance you know what your pH is?

Yes I checked my pH and it's hovering around 8.05 and quite stable ..it fell a little to 7.99 at night .
I can change carbon but don't wanna do a water change as if it's heterotrophic bacteria ,they will reproduce watt faster than I can change water .

The only reason I would do a water change is if your ammonia is over 10ppm. Ideally you should keep your ammonia under 5ppm or it can hinder the bacterial growth you need for your cycle.

The cloudiness occurs because of bacterial bloom and it will clear up in few days. You are using probiotic salt which already is supplemented with bacteria and adding Bio S to it increased the population so the water is cloudy. Don't worry it will clear up soon.

Continue doing what is recommended and biology will take its own course....;)

I just set up a 25 lagoon using the AquaForest Reef Salt and Bio S my tank was cloudy for like 4 days and now its crystal clear. Im about a week in already have lowered ammonia and nitrite so cycle is moving decent. No rush though :)

Thanks @Anirban ..
Well do you think I should decrease my Bio S dosage to 1-2 drops daily?

Abhishek
Just came across your post and have the same cloudy water situation in my tank of similar size. Set up with AF pro-biotic salt and dosing 3 drops of Bio S also. The tank only got to the end of day 2 and then bloom started.... From what lm reading above, l should stick to the dosage if all parameters are good.
