Following, I think my tank has very similar cloudiness by what you are describing, my tank is very young though only 2 months so I have been assuming it is still just settling in. All parameters are in check with water chemistry so I have been attributing it to a bacterial issue.

Your tank do what you want.

Very helpful. I appreciate you diagnosing my issue thoroughly and suggesting a solution. I will look into it.

Any other thoughts? Possibly informative posts on what the cause/issue may be?

Thought about it. I don't feel like throwing money at this without a definitive cause. A 300 gallon UV isn't cheap.

Hanna needs to make a Bacteria Checker!
hes right.
no inflection it typing
we're on the boards a lot
seen it
look at the susun 25w sterilizer on amazon
cheap
lower flow through uv higher killing
look used or for ponds too.
good luck

Jetmaker is certainly a man of few words but I'd have to agree with him. It sounds like a bacterial bloom and a UV Sterilizer is likely to clear it right up in a day or so.

As to the cause of it I'm not sure but I had something similar happen to me when my tank was a couple of months old. I believe it may have something to do with the Walt Smith 2.1 dry rock I'm using but I could be wrong.

I ended up adding a Corallife 18w Turbo Twist UV, which is a less expensive brand. Cleared the tank up in a day.
