I came home from dinner and my 150 reef tank water is cloudy. Crystal clear 2 hours earlier. Tank is 10 months old. Doing very well. Mixed reef. I do have a large 9" derasa clam. In last 4 days my calcium has been very high 520 per salifert test. alkalinity has been 8.3. Been slowly lowering my calcium dosing to get the calcium to go down. I also have a UV sterilizer that was running 24 hours, which I recently dialed back to 12 hours a day. My thoughts are either the calcium is precipitating out, although I don't have signs of that on equipment, or I just had something spawn, possibly the claim. any thoughts appreciated. Everything looks good. I turned the UV back on.

With calcium at that level, I'd expect some precipitation. It does seem odd to me that it would go from clear to cloudy that fast if it were precipitation. Unless there was a spike of something else, I'd guess some other event like spawning.

I woke up this morning and it was clear as a bell. Im going to test the levels again today, but my hunch is it was my big clam. At any rate, everything looks happy. Appreciate the response. I was in full panic mode last night.
