My water over night got really cloudy and has white particles floating in the water. They are not bubbles. I’m about to do a water change is there anything else I can do to clear the water up? Might sound bad but I do not have time to test all the parameters because my 3 year old daughter has a stomach bug and is throwing up everywhere.

How old is this tank?

If it’s brand new, the cloudiness is just the bacteria that’s consuming something that the new tanks have. Adding water might fuel the bacteria’s growth.

I think you should point a power head to the surface to get better oxygen and gas exchange. This is to prevent the bacteria from depleting your oxygen levels in the tank.

I am going to need some parameters when you have a chance.

Yea I plan on getting them as soon as I can. I’ll hold off on the water change then. I have two wave makes on both ends moving the water on top pretty good. The tank is almost a year old.

I need more information on your parameters.

Activated Carbon removes cloudiness. I would first try to add that.

I need to know ammonia, nitrates, and phosphate levels.

What type of water do you use for water changes?

So I thought I would update you. Everyone always tells you do t overreact. So I changed my filter socks and turned down the lights and the water is back clear now.
