I have a 20 gallon reef aquarium and my water seems to always be cloudy. Water parameters are good, and i do weekly water changes. Fish, corals and invertebrates are all healthy and opening up good. If anybody can please give there opinions on what it could be please and thank you. :frusty:

Weird. How long has it been going on?

Like 3 weeks now. It wasn't bad at first but now i see a lot throughout the whole tank. I thought it was from feeding too much but i started feeding every other day and the water stayed the same

How long has your tank been running?

It could be a sandstorm from blowing sand via a powerhead. Or possibly a bacterial bloom.

Do you have a skimmer?

Do you run socks or filter pads?

Its been about 2 months. And no skimmer i recently put in a powerhead to give the tank more water movement. But i have a aquaclear filter. Could it be the bacteria?

Could be bacterial bloom, if its only been up for 2 months, it may still be cycling. Are you using tap water?

I had the same thing happen to my tank once I got it set up and my first thought was a bacterial bloom as the others have mentioned. In my case it turned out to be a calcium precipitation. If by chance you are adding Ca to the tank this could be the cause if you feel its not a bacterial bloom. Just another option, and if you have a Ca test kit I might test the water.

I'd have to lean towards a possible bacterial bloom then. I know with some new tanks, after a cycle there is a possible bloom.

I do weekly water changes for 5 gallons
