Good Afternoon.

I have been battling cyanobacteria algae for a while now.. I would user a baster and suck teh sand and rocks and all that.

Well about a week ago my water got really cloudy.. I did a water change about 20 gallon in my 75 and helped a little but not much. I bought some Seachem Clarity with the advice of LFS, it cleared it up no issue.

So then still battling the Cyano and now water cloudy again.. Have dosed the Seachem Clarity twice and did another 20 gallon change today. My Zoa's and Platy's and Mushrooms are not opening at all.

Any thoughts to batter the water issue.

What are you using for filteration? Are you using a skimmer. When you do your water changes vacumn the substrate about a 1/2 inch deep. Also you to make sure you have good flow throughout the tank via powerheads etc.

I have a skimmer and I keep adjusting my fans. trying to get rid of dead zone. What a choir. I have not tried to vacuum the same.. Any way to prevent it from leaving the tank?

I'd say that you don't have enough flow in the tank. What are you at now? You really can't have to much, but you can run to little.

Also check your sump for excess food!

2 Koralia 1500 and a 750.. Hard to tell how much is coming from the over flow.

How would you position your pumps.

Why would not enough flow cause it to be cloudy?

I know it doesn't make sense but it happens that way. Bacterial blooms for some reason. I have mine positioned on the ends and in the middle, and I could probably still have more flow.

I am using a Koralia 1500 on backside of rock and two mp40's on each side of tank. Plenty of flow. I have had cyno before but it always goes away.. Since upgrading to the Ecos no cyno.

Would love to but the $800 price tag is out of my range.

Update.. I adjusted all my power heads and added another one and the water is no longer cloudy. Picked up a new skimmer to replace my HOB that was on my 56 then ridding in the sump of my 75. Will get that installed today. I'll keep those that are interested posted.
