Help!! MY 30 gallon bare bottom tank is so cloudy! I'm using a skimmer, the tank has cycled, but before today the only things that were in it were in it were live rock, and the little things that come with it. Today I bought a clown fish, and a HUGE turbo snail, te guy says it's 5 years old, and a small chunk of rock the snail was on. I put them in at 8, went to pick up my brother from the airport, and at 10 I come home and the tank is super cloudy! Help PLEASE!!! I'm stressing out over this! I kind of think it was the snail! When I look closely I see something that looks like it's coming out of the bottom of his she'll, help omg

I've never heard of a snail fouling the water that quickly, nor giving a tank that much ammonia that fast. Have you dosed anything to the tank? The new inhabitants will give some ammonia off, and if the tank wasn't cycled with enough ammonia to begin with, its likely you could get an ammonia bloom, but won't last very long. Have you tested the water?

I did as soon as I got home and saw how cloudy it was, nitrate nitrite and ammonia were all at zero it cleared up a lot over night, but still cloudy

could it be that your snail was trying to spawn with itself? I had a bunch of turbo snails (male and female) try to spawn one evening and they clouded up the tank with their goods pretty quickly. The skimmer and other fish cleared it up by morning though.
