Cloudy water

Hello reefers,

Today is the first day I've had my tank(my very first tank) filled and running. Currently I just have my rockscape and RODI water, I'm waiting for my Salt that's coming later this week. I used nature's ocean dry rock from Amazon, i soaked in tap water, then pressure washed (many of the pores were clogged with dust and smaller rocks). Then another tap water bath, followed by an RODI bath. After pressure washing I made sure the water was coming away clean, but apparently there was still dust/silt in the rocks and now my tank is super cloudy and has been for a few days. Today I started running the pump and swapped out my mesh filter sock for a felt one to try and clean up the water. The only equipment running is my return pump. My question is: is there something else I should be doing or am I on the right path? I was going to run my powerheads, and will down the road, but I was hoping to vacuum out anything that settles on the bottom while letting the sock clean the water column. Any feedback or ideas would be greatly appreciated

Yes- with suspended particulate and trace from salt suspended, water will be cloudy. If you are running filters (which you should be), use of a filter sock will entrap suspended dust matter. Also a canister filter or hang on back filter will entrap this also. Should be much clearer in 24-48 hours
