I have a new 150 gallon tank, a 7 stage RO system and mostly dry rock I have a few pieces of live rock which I bleached and cooked for two months. Initially, I filled the tank with saltwater to begin the cycle process but the water was cloudy. I did a 75 gallon water change-no improvement in clarity. Since then I have done a 125 gallon freshwater change and then a 150 gallon fresh water change with carbon in a filter sock. This morning it looks even worse. I run a skimmer which is not pulling nutrients and a clarisea which seems to turn pinkish. Are my rocks leeching something?

How long did you let it settle to see if it cleared up between water changes? Have any pics to share?
The last water change was 3 days ago. It’s been wet for a week. The water is more cloudy than the pics show.

If this in part of a normal process then should I go ahead and add salt again?

Fill it with saltwater and let it settle. I wouldn't run the UV during your cycle at all. I'd wait to run the skimmer for 3-4 days. Dump a bottle of Bio-Spira in there, wait 24 hours and dose with Dr. Tims ammonia per the instructions. When you fill it the water is going to get cloudy with fine sediment flying around... it will settle. Run your pumps and have patience.

When I cycled my 60g cube I used live sand and dead rock that had been sitting in 78 degree saltwater for months. I added 12 vials of Priodibio Startup and a bottle of Bio-Spira on day one. waited 48 hours and started dosing Dr Tims ammonia as per the instructions. Tank was "cycled" in about a week. Added 2 clowns and a Royal Gramma after 10 days along with another half bottle of Bio-Spira. About week 3 diatoms starting showing up and I added a small clean up crew consisting of blue legged hermits, Cerith snails and Trochus snails. I only have 5 fish in the tank right now since I'm going to be moving soon but my water is practically invisible. When my water gets cloudy I'll run the UV for 24 hours or so and it clears right up. Most days my water is so clear it looks like the fish are going to fall down to the bottom.
