Hey everyone. Im thinking of getting some firework clove polyps soon, but I want to hear about your experiences with this coral first. (These questions do not include the tiny blue clove polyps)

1) Would you say your cloves grow fast or slow?
2) Do you feed them? If so, what do you feed?
3) Any tips or things you've noticed keeping cloves?

Thank you for your time!

1. Fast. Even when my frag was acclimatizing to the tank and not open yet, additional 'stems' were already growing.
2. Not directly. They probably absorb nutrients from fish waste and/or baby brine shrimp.
3. Higher flow seems to help. They seem to do fine under both lower and higher light intensities.

They are decent growers definitely slower than I thought they would be.

I love them. They grow at a steady rate and require moderate light and water flow and a little iron in the water

They grow like crazy! They will over take other corals, like my zoas. I love them, I have the Fireworks and now keep them on their own island otherwise they take over. No direct feeding and they do like water flow. Good luck!

I had a small colony of them for a while, but a small aiptasia moved in and killed them seemingly overnight. They were a lot more fragile then I'd thought they would be, but otherwise healthy growers.

My advise to you is to isolate them! They are beautiful but they will take over your tank. 20210604_161954.jpg

1. I’d say on the fast side although nowhere near as fast as gsp.

2. Nope, I do broadcast feed the pods and other corals with reef roids but no direct feeding for them.

3. They do like stronger flow but not too strong that they are struggling. They can and will quickly overrun your other corals since they dont encrust but grow like strawberries (with runners?) which may explain why they cover a greater distance than let’s say GSP.
