Several days ago, I freaked my poor clownfish out. We rushed by the tank and the clown just got completely scared about it. She is still eating, and sleeping in her normal spot, but she's spent a lot of the last few days tucked in a protective corner of the tank she doesn't normally spend time in. She's my first and only saltwater fish. I've had her for a little over a year.

Today, she finally started acting almost back to normal. She ate from my fingers again and is back in her normal spot. Bad news is today she now also has some transparent streaks on her tail! It looks white in the picture, but in person it looks like the color is missing, not white.

Did I stress my fish so bad that this happened, or is the timing just a coincidence? If it's a coincidence, what is this? It doesn't look like ick or anything I've seen pics of yet.

Pics attached. Please advise if you know what this is- thank you!

Many fish (all fish?) will undergo color changes during stress events. It can take a while to get back to normal (fish PTSD, I guess?). So my guess is that it's likely just that and you should see improvement over time. I mean - eating from your hand isn't exactly a sign that the fish is under stress. :-)

At the same time, check out this thread on Brook. I doubt what you're seeing is this, but it's better to be sure than wrong...

#reefsquad; any other ideas or suggestions?

How the clown looking today?

Today she is completely back to normal! What a strange thing! @DLHDesign seems to be correct. There one day, gone the next. Poor girl. Today she's completely back to normal.

Thank you so much for such quick and insightful responses! This forum is wonderful!!

That’s not entirely uncommon :)
