Clown Acting weird

What’s my clown doing in the sand bed? Do they need a mate to expel eggs or no?

From that angle it looks like its just trying to swim against a strong current?

If its actively kicking up sand with its tail the yes its a sign that it wants to clean up the nest to lay eggs. Is this a mated pair?

Clowns do weird things oftentimes. Either way it doesn't look like it's doing something thats concerning.

Looks like it is resisting current in the tank. How to find out? Reduce or turn off flow for even 5 minutes and see if it slows down its swimming behavior.
If that is proven, reduce flow slightly as thats a lot of work daily to resist high current.

do you have some small rocks? put a piece behind him to dissipate the flow. u don't want a dead spot as well.
