So I’m picking up a small bubble tip and a skunk clown locally from a fellow reefer. Any recommendations as far as QT? Qt them together? Just QT the fish? No other Nems in the display currently. My QT is a 10gal, Seeded HOB filter, started with display tank water, small power head, heater, pvc elbows, seachem ammonia alert badge and a Aqua Illuminations Nano LED. What’s recommend when you have a new clown and nem arriving at the same time?

Are you running any treatments in the qt tank such as copper or antibiotics? if so you won't want to put your anemone through that. If its strictly an observational quarantine, as long as the lighting can support the anemone it should be fine

The BTA will not tolerate copper, so if medicating fish, need to be separate. Nem needs a 16day QT to eradicate free swimmers.

I normally run Parzipro followed by copper for all new fish. I guess my question is if it’s safe to just acclimate and add the nem to the display? Or if I’m better off QT them both and just observe

You need 2 separate QT tanks from your display. To be 100% sure. You can put nem directly into your display (I would not recommend) Small chance that he could bring parasites that are free swimming (or in the water held in the nem) into DT. Best way would be put fish in separate QT and medicate, then nem in his own tank, or a coral QT (Anything fishless) for 16 days, then he can go into DT. @4FordFamily

Don’t have another tank for a second QT, nor do I think the wife would be to thrilled about 3rd tank. Temporary as it may be lol. Think I’m going to just qt them together and observe for 30 days. A quick freshwater dip for the clown to check for flukes. If I see any signs of illness I’ll have to re-evaluate

As long as you're not running copper you should be good. otherwise drip acclimate the nem to your display tank and put him in if you need to treat the clown

Yea I get the wife part! another option would just be a Rubbermaid tote on the floor (Small) with heat and powerhead for the 16 days. but I get it (If you do this I would use some of your "Mature" water and or media if your setting it up temporarily). I currently have 3 bins on floor, QT Tank, stuff everywhere. Overwhelming at times!

My wife's not even thrilled about the first tank!!;Hilarious;Hilarious;Hilarious

Just a thought.... You could put the BTA in the main QT tank and run the clown through an extended TTM (16 days). This option should allow enough time for any free swimmers in/on the BTA to die before introducing the clown to the main QT, plus allow you to dose the clown with Parzipro in an isolated environment.

 So woke up this morning to find the BTA stuck to the intake of the HOB filter. I removed it the best I could but one side was totally deflated and chewed up pretty good. Luckily the foot wasn’t damaged much if any. No big rips that I could see. So I put some screen material over the HOB filter intake and went to work.

I get home now and I find that it split and have two BTA’s, both attached to a piece of live rock. I’m not sure if the fact that it split is a good or bad thing.
