My blood orange misbar clown, Kingpin, is the hoss of the tank. Recently, my male zebra damsel, so the largest of three, has begun swimming sideways and shimmying really fast when he goes near Kingpin. It seems as if they got into a tussle as Kingpin has some nicks in her top back fin and the damsel had some damage to his bottom fins and top fin. There is no more fighting, but this is how they act now.

They had not fought before this, but it seems he did something wrong this time so she chased him for a moment.

these 2 typrs of fish are all mean, fighting nonstop even in a bigger tank.

I guess keep an eye on them for now and be prepared to rehome one if they continue to go at it. Moving to a larger tank may not make any difference at this point. They'll either work it out or you'll have to intervene to prevent one or both from killing the other.

I've got two anthias that have "taken up arms" in a similar matter, with one of them chasing the other out of the tank the other day. They've since settled down a bit, but I'm keeping an eye on both. The one is kind of a jerk.

if you're smart, you'll take it back now while you can still get store credit wait too long and it will become a rescue on withier the lfs will take a beaten-up sick fish

Oh, honey, this fish came from Petco. There is no return policy on saltwater fish, even if it dies in store. Once you buy it, it’s yours. Besides, they were chill for a long time until now. Damsel is getting moved to qt tank where he will spend the rest of his days.

Best option IMO. That female clown will just get meaner and so will the damsel. Looks they are not fully grown yet, and it only gets worse.

Petco definitely knows what their doing…the no returns is really annoying considering they know most of their fish are so sick…
You named the clown well:

Those things are frickin evil. I’ve kept a lot of cichlids (which have similar behaviors to damsels and co.) and once the fighting starts, it usually doesn’t end until one dies or is separated, ideally the latter.

Update, he tore one of kingpins top fins and that’s not acceptable, so he’s going in permanent qt time-out
