earlier they were down near the toadstool. And some days they are all over up and down. But they’ve been here a bit today. I’ve never seen this. Of concern ?

Could be a sign they're being harassed.....could be day or night. It's definitely a sign of stress, so keep getting to the bottom of it.

How long have they been in the tank?

When mine were new they were swimming all over the place for the first week. Mine also go into the corners like you have pictured to sleep.

Once they adjusted they swim like normal though

4 days. No one bothers them. That I’ve seen. They usually sleep front bottom stage left. Just never seen them hovering this angle. But that is where a good current is coming around and up. Feeding now and they are out and about. I’ll keep an eye on it and keep testing.

Thank you both.

Mine are pretty new to my tank with little coral in it. They have sort of claimed the corners as you have pictured. When I stick my arm in that area my gold nugget definitely defends it

If they aren't using any of the rock or corals in the tank for cover – not even when they sleep – that's weird. A good way to be eaten and have your genes removed from the pool. ;)

Do you have a serpent star?

Are you able to do some observing at night/odd times of day/night when you aren't normally around?

No serpent star. No other really open swimmers. At night they are either swimming on the bottom front stage left or by the toadstool.

It’s definitely a sign of concern, one of my clown also did the same just went over up and down. And mostly stayed like this only vertically down. But i could clearly see that clown was sick, can you see any signs of disease. Mine was having bacterial infection and ultimately I lost it. It came diseased from the lfs only, stayed with me for 3 days.
IMO your clown is stressed, is it eating?

No spots / signs/ or symptoms of sickness. They eat. When I got near them they shot off elsewhere. Usually manage the sand bed in a front corner but still go to the back spot to swim in the odd current. They go between here and the front spot- and everywhere else around the tank.

They look healthy as hell but I’ve never seen a fish swim “downward” like this in the same spot. They do visit this section underneath a return frequently during the day.

my last 2 clowns did the exact same thing in the same spot as yours for the first 6 months, more than likely they are just fine
I hope so. Love them! Slapping myself every time I get the itch to get them a rbta until my tank is settled

Maybe stressed because of something just give them time. Since they’re healthy and eating you can relax[emoji3]

That’s normal to me. I have a pair that I quarantined and they spend all day in a 180g DT in that same position that you just showed. They do not get bullied, cyber bullied, or any other non sense. They’re the only ones in the tank as well.

No micro macro or other aggressions ? No privileges needing checked ?

I can’t find the post of who suggested this. But one is not enjoying the pot base. Other may follow hopefully. Sorry for pic quality. No filter yet.
