I've had my clown pair for 3-4 months and they have gotten along well. But the past 3-4 weeks one has gotten aggressive with the other. I haven't seen any physical attack, besides nose butting, or damage but pretty keeps the other pushed back into a corner of the rock most of the day. Feeding time is both entertaining and not fun to watch as the one being dominated finds a way to dart in and out and grab flakes.

Is this likely a temporary thing and they will sort it out or should I separate (aka take bully back to the LRS) them now before it gets really nasty?

Clownfish and their relationships are built on hierarchy and aggression. The more dominant clown will grow larger and become the female while the next most dominant (whether there are two or a dozen) will transition into the male. If there is no significant damage to either fish then I would suggest that you let them do their thing - their actions sound complete normal.

Thank you.

I’ll let them sort it out!

Make sure you add some food close for him to eat if he’s not my allowed to do so by the other clown. They should sort things out before long. Sounds like he just needs to submit.

Thanks for the response! He gets a little aggressive at feeding time and finds a way to grab some flakes. I have been feeding a bit more and there is a good amount floating around in the tank. So when Bully goes out to get some grub he sneaks out as well and usually gets back in time. It’s a bit comical to watch actually. He is getting food and I’ll keep a close eye on it!
