Hi everyone,

I found this small grouping of black like dots on a frag rock that I am using as a zoa garden. The picture is clear byt the dots are hard to get a clear picture. I also want to mention the clownfish are not hovering over them but every once in a while I see them go there. Also I see my hermit crabs going there and eating. Not sure yet if they are eating the dots or whatever. Thanks for any input.

Clownfish eggs are orange, not eggs. Bumping to get you back to the top so you can get a proper ID! Looks like maybe fungus though. Have the zoas been opening? How long have you had em?

Yea the zoas haven't been bothered by it they open fine, it was just closed because I took it out of the tank. Really only noticed it yesterday.

Here’s what clownfish eggs look like, on my leather coral. Just for comparison...

Got it, yea Im going to see if my inverts clean it up, and if it's still there tomorrow I'll manually have to remove it. I also forgot to mention they were very slimy.

Looks like baby bubble algae

Heres my clown eggs

Yep. This is what they look like when they are first laid, my picture is what they look like when they are ready to hatch. Only a few days difference between the 2 stages.

I decided not to wait, just removed the black dots with tooth brush and cotton swab, almost seemed like algae when. Not sure hopefully doesn't come back. Did a dip in the zoa plug too just to make sure I didn't damage the zoas with the cleaning. I'll keep you guys posted if it comes back or something worse. Thanks again fellow reefers.

So Far so good no visible signs of those black dots / possibly algae. Toothbrush was effective. Also the zoas weren't affected at all.
