Hey,

So I rehomed a breeding pair of clowns around 6 years old.

It’s been nearly two months and the make practically spends the whole day attacking his own reflections in the glass. I have checked looking at an angle inside the tank and it’s so reflective nearly mirror like so I don’t blame him.

Is there anyway of getting him to stop without putting black paper up against the glass as that will not allow me to see them and the tank which is the whole point of starting a reef?

Any other solutions?
Thanks in advance

Other than an anemone or something else to chase there's not much you can do.
As bad as it sounds I’d rather the anemone die than the Bobby. Any variety you would recommend?

Any cheap bubbletip will do. Keep in-mind that most clownfish are captive bred and won't necessarily figure out what to do with an anemone for quite some time (weeks or even months).

Wish me luck.

If you get a nem, catch the clownfish and put them into a small container/the bag with the nem from the store will do, and introduce the fish to the nem. Once they get used to the idea they tend to become inseparable.

If you just drop the nem in the tank, they may never meet.

Wow that actually makes a lot of sense. Only trouble will be catching the buggers the guy I got them from practically destroyed his whole reef and aquascape catching them. Took nearly and hour. Was a sight to behold.

The other option is to stick the nem in the corner or cave or hole where the clown hangs out. Let the nem settle in and open, and then chase the clown until it dives in the nem.

First option is obviously better, but the 2nd has worked a few times too,

I do have a cave the clowns(mainly the female) hang out in constantly so that could defo be a shout

buy a cheap basket off lowe’s or amazon to put a bubble tip in. once it acclimates (a week or so) put in the clownfish until it hosts it. should only take a few weeks or less. then put them both back in the display. you can buy a bubble tip for cheap from local reefers 20-30 for a rose maybe 40-50 for a rainbow. 3 months is more than enough time imo as long as you have stable parameters
