Clown fish has red-ish areas on its sides.

Over the last couple of weeks I've noticed at one of my clown fishes has gotten some red-ish colored areas on its side. Here are some poor cell phone pics (sorry about that)

It looks as if the red areas are showing through his scales, not like something growing on him. He has never been introduced to another fish (him and the other clown we got from the breeder years ago) and I have not added anything to the tank in a year (except some CUC a several months back). I have been having an issue keeping my Alk up and my Cal down. Could that be causing it?

Redish areas can be a symptom of a bacterial infection or something else. Keep a close eye on those areas.
