Clown fish hosting in Torch - should I worry?

Hello,

So one of my black clowns has decided to host in my torch coral. Should I be worried about the torch? Their tentacles aren't extended as much throughout the day as the clown is constantly poking in. And towards the end of the day the torch retracts pretty much all the way before the night lights go out.

Should I consider setting up a separate tank for the clowns? Are there signs I should keep an eye out for before things go bad. I was hoping the torch will start to split (it's a single head) but am wondering if the clown is going to slow/stop it.

Another note. The frogspawn was 8 heads when I got it. Its 12 now.

Yea, I don't mind him hanging out on there, it's cute, but mine is a fraction of the size of yours

from What I have seen as long as the torch is healthy it should be ok. The clown will cuddle in the soft tissue and cause no problems. If your torch isn’t fully extending for whatever reason the clown may run on the soft tissue and hit skeleton causing issues. Im dealing with this situation right now. I had to take in a friends torch because there was no way the clown was going to let it recover.

I’ve heard that it’s ok with some torches, but others can rub the soft flesh and skeleton together, irritating it. Just keep an eye out, and make sure it looks healthy.

My clowns host anemones but the male moves out when female is to bossy. He has hosted torch, goni, Duncan, hammers. They all shrunk up but would go back to normal or better within a couple weeks.

I would worry only if the coral doesn’t bounce back.

The clowns don't host anything. It's the other way around. The coral/nem is the host.

I think I'm gonna pull the clowns out. I came home and this is what my torch looks like. The tentacles are way shriveled then I've seen since getting it. The clownfish is jumping on it like it's a trampoline. The base of the torch just doesn't look right to me and seems exposed.

They can certainly get aggressive.

I could not get my clowns to host to my anemones so gave up but they really like my hammers now

not to worry the torch often recede through the day and with you our clowns swimming through it they will be annoying the torch - who will soon get used to it and stop receding.

My clown has been hosting in my torch for years. I haven't had any issues with the torch other that it growing like crazy...
