I've had my tank for a couple of months now and one of my clownfish is currently losing its color and his fins look ripped my other clown is perfectly fine and I've been consistent with water changes so I'm really not sure what the problem is and need help. :(

The side picture looks very suspicious for Brooklynella...which is a fast killer. Both clowns (and probably any other fish in the tank) need to be treated asap in a quarantine tank, if possible.

The primary treatment is a 45min dip in a Formalin 37% solution (or Ruby Reef Rally for 90min) then placed in a clean quarantine tank and then treated additionally with Metrodonizole every 48hrs for 10-14 days. The main tank should then be fallow for at least 45 days to clear out any Brooklynella still in that tank.

While procuring these meds, you can perform freshwater dips for 5min every day or so in order to help the fish's comfort. Freshwater dips won't cure Brook, but it is supposed to help reduce symptoms a little and buy you some time.

Thanks for the help, but what if I don't have a quarantine tank running at this time? Is it too late to start one up?

No, you can start up a quarantine tank at any time. Just throw in some BioSpira bottled bacteria each day for the first week while it takes hold to control the ammonia. I like Seachem ammonia alert badges to monitor for ammonia in quarantine...if it elevates, just be ready for a water change.

The formalin dip would be done in a separate bucket....and then place the fish in the quarantine tank.

Thank for the information.
