I have an orange and white ocellairs clown. First fish in my tank over four months ago. He was a tiny baby about 3/4 of an inch long. At the time I noticed he had a very small black spot underneath the dorsal fin within the skin like it was something maybe underneath and I always thought it was just his normal marking..
I have added more fish and frag's over the last 4 months and everything is been doing great the baby clown paired with another clown that I put in a week later and they're inseparable the other one is a black-and-white. They sleep on top of each other on the sand bed they are literally inseparable and the most fun to watch together!
I noticed about a week or two ago the white on the front stripe of the clown seemed like it had a little crack in it for lack of a better way to describe it..
Or the white is missing in some spots.. He had totally normal behavior getting stronger and growing eating swimming doing everything normally..

Now I noticed the dark spot that was under the skin seems to be all over the front orange section of his body it looks like it's inside his body showing through the orange and on closer inspection this morning it seems to be on the lower section of the orange part of his body as well I can't believe I didn't notice how bad this was it seems like it literally happened overnight!
Believe me I stare at this Tank and these guys for hours in the course of the week and I had not noticed it like this!

I'm really worried and not quite sure what to do!
And now part 2 to this dilemma (just in case it's related) I have a Midas blenny who on the first day I got him (2 months ago)when he swims around he sort of skims across rocks.. But Midas blennies swim very weird and sometimes he'll get caught in the powerhead stream and swim in circles in darts back-and-forth and sometimes skims across the rock I looked it up on the Internet and someone else Blenny had a similar that it was just part of his behavior but maybe he's got something going on?
I don't know!!

Im suddenly freaking out thinking something is wrong with the tank..
Everything is normal I will post my parameters the only change is I switched out phosguard which has remove high phosphates and I put in clearmax I believe is a GFO and I put that in last week... Those are the only changes recently..

29 gallon tank running & established for 4 months

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrates less than 20 ppm
PH 8.0 fluctuate slightly
Alkalinity 180
Calcium 380
Temperature steady 78°
Salinity zero 1.024

Inhabitants

Cleaning crew of about 15 snails and crabs.
(New baby snail just found in my tank yesterday)
emerald crab
1 Fire shrimp 1peppermint shrimp
2 ocellairs clowns
1 Royal grams
1 orchard dottyback
1 Midas Blenny

Various frags and small hammer coral

I used kent purple tech to help with the Coralline growth. Used this like two or three times only.. I feed once a day alternating between flakes Brine and Mysis and zooplankton powder once a week for the corals..

I really hope someone has an idea.. I've had a lot of advice from a lot of different people.. Trying to pull the best information from everybody.
There were so many opinions out there it's hard to decipher exactly what should be done when it comes to stocking the tank.
I am stocked to capacity and therefore I am planning an 80 gallon upgrade over the summer.
So please, I'm really worried and concerned and would like to know what's wrong with my clown. I have been told I can put 5 to 6 fish in a 29 gallon tank as long as they're not big fish. Then I've had someone told me 2 to 3.
But does anybody know why my clown fish looks like it's turning black from underneath and The white is cracking..
Please help!
:(

Sorry that was so long I just wanted to provide all information and history of the tank

what does the diet consist of?

It's in the details..
I alternate between marine flakes, Mysis and Brian...
The day before my weekly 10% water change I feed zooplankton to the corals
And clam on the half shell at the bottom of the tank and all of in the serious nails come out for that and the shrimp but I do that the day before the water change so I can get everything cleaned and get the extra food out of the tank.
Otherwise I alternates between when I mentioned once a day..
I never miss a water change every seven days

Clownfish do change colors as they mature. A pic would be super helpful to see if this is the case.

A photo would be helpful

I realize some details are going to be missed because my post is so long.. should have made it shorted but wanted to share everything..
The behavior is even better then ever. If anything, its not a shy. Actually swims to another area of the tank to explore but immediately returns to his partner. I forgot to mention I used only distilled water and I am faithful with cleaning and water changes.

Honestly, I see nothing wrong.
Clown colors morph as they mature and grow.
A sick fish would certainly show behavior changes.
Krista may see more than I do but this fish does not look sick.

Active fish do get scratches and scars. [emoji5]️

REALLY? OH that's great news! If you compare the two pictures its a big difference. I didn't realize the coloration would change. I also thought the cracked looking whit was not a big deal because they lay on the sand..I have read about "black spot disease" which is a flatworm parasite that attaches to the fish bt this guy is not acting weird in any way shape or form!
I hope you are right!

What do you think Krista? If you compare the 2 pics its a big difference but if you and others have seen that before I can rest easy this weekend!

I don't see anything alarming. The one on the white part looks like a scrape. Does your clown hang out in any of the corals?

If things take a turn for the worst, post in the fish disease section. There are some very knowledgable people there! But to me he seems okay, probably changing colors.

Update.. I just went to the disease thread and looked at some pictures and I found one that looks like clownfish hyper melanization which is from stinging corals.. I wonder if the clown has been paying nightly visits to my hammer? Its gotten worse since I have the hammer.. Well either it doesn't seem to be a disease!

I skimmed (terrible, I know), but that's a small enough tank that the dotty and gramma might get into it eventually. They're fairly territorial. Glad things are looking positive for the clown :)

I cannot even believe you just said what you did about the gramma and the Dotty back. Tonight after my water change I noticed they were both hiding out in a similar area actually started fighting! That's the first time that ever happened and it really scared me they did break it up on their own but I didn't think they would go at it like that.. Funny that you just happen to mention that! I guess I need to be on the lookout for that and maybe when I get my upgrade it will be better because they'll have more space..

Haha, sorry to jinx it, but my gramma, as it got older would definitely hold his own territory. I always wanted to add a pretty dotty, but I knew I might be looking for trouble. With a big enough upgrade and enough hiding spots, it should hopefully be fine.
