Not something that I would suggest doing.

When that pair starts to spawn, they are not going to take too kindly to the 3rd clown. It may work in the short term, but it can/will go South very quickly, something before you can intervene, which could leave you with, at least, one dead clown.

What if I have two pairs of different breeds

Then the odds go to having 2 dead clowns --- unless you have a HUGE tank.

What size tank do you have?

There are a lot of factors and "what if's" that go into determining clown compatibility. Are they confirmed breeding pairs, will they ever breed, what types of clowns, size of tank, etc.

If the tank is at least 6' long, I would say you may be safe. and that is if the pair of clown have claimed a spot on one far side of the tank. That way they are less likely to cross paths. I have seen 3 clown live in harmony before but they were not a pair and just all 3 played together. And they were big clowns.

It can be cause by water conditions changing rapidly it can be cleared up, I beleive its a fungus, correct me if I'm wrong anyone lol, but it will spread if not taking care of, Let me ask my buddy that had the same issue
