Think he's making duck-face for the selfie? lol

Jk... clowns are not mouth brooders, so it wouldn't be that. It's like that ALL the time? Does he appear to not be able to close his mouth at all? See any whiteish growths on, in or near his mouth?

That's not normal. The blue around his lips is also not normal. My best guess is he either bit, kissed or tried to move a coral in your tank (like that euphyllia in the foreground.) My female maroon would attack/move any new coral frag I put within view.

So would this be a case for some epsom salt to reduce inflamation? Or just ride it out and let it heal on its own (as long as he's still able to eat)? Clowns should be able to heal from stings like that on their own and build up a resistance. right?

Hi if he is always like that I would guess he might be having trouble breathing cause I've had fish do something similar before. Could he have swallowed something he shouldn't have? If it's not that my next guess would be low oxygen in tank or parasites possibly in the lungs but these are just guesses. When my freshwater tank got ich a lot of the fish states holding their mouths open a lot . I hope you find out what it is and he is ok

This might be a dumb question but could he have gotten stung by anything like coral or anemone ?

Yes, dosing Epsom salt (1 tablespoon per 5 gals) should help reduce the swelling. Also, soaking fish food with vitamin supplements (exs. Selcon, Zoecon, Vita-chem) will help boost the fish's immune system.

My fem Maroon clown once ate a wasp that landed on the top of the water before I could net it out. The vitamin supplements seemed to expedite the healing process with her poor face.

Thanks for all the info guys. The corals been in with them from day one he even host in one no new coral has been added will keep and eye on him
