Hi guys. Just curious if anyone can ID what disease this clown goby has? I got it along with a hi-fin and they were both in QT. I don’t think the clown goby will survive, but the hi-fin looks fine, so mostly wondering if it is contagious and how to treat/precautions to take?

i would normally think Ich or velvet, but the spots are yellow, not white.

Thanks!

For the other fish, no way to know if any infection occurred I’d do nothing but watch carefully for some behavioral or physical change, get the eating going, already stressed in shipping so let him get adjusted.
Any meds add stress, I only treat what I can diagnos, otherwise, I let them be.
But be ready to act if things go south.

Might just be stress coloration, on an already underweight fish. Get it into somewhere with hiding places and get it eating- try live BBS if it won't take prepared foods. These guys often don't do well being imported, and the number one thing is to get it eating.

Unfortunately, the clown goby is moribund and as you stated, likely not to make it. It is thin which indicates either internal issue or other issue causing it to not eat and thin out. I can imagine it has a higher breathing rate as well lethargic behavior. You can increase oxygen with air stone to help it although from pics may be too far gone and sorry to verse this.

How long have you had the gobies? I’ve seen ich pick up the color of the skin in some fish.
The trouble with these gobies is that they are really low value and difficult to catch. The only way for it to be profitable is to use cyanide to catch them. This causes health issues in many of the fish later on - including starvation as seen here.

I picked up the two about a week ago. Struggled to get the clown goby to eat but the high fin is thriving.

Good to know that there are issues with catching them as it will influence my future choice of fish.

Try live BBS. If it won't eat those, honestly, you should probably get some clove oil and euthanize it, because it's not going to recover if it won't eat.
