Clown hosting

Any ideas on getting a percula clownfish to host to a bubbletip?

Some will put a picture of a clown in a nem. Place both in a small container with flow for a while with no other objects. Was the nem added after the clown? If so, sometimes removing the clown and changing rockwork will help as the clown will be exploring its new home and 'discover' the anemone.

Just a few options I have seen others do with good results. Hope it helps!

Yes I was given two clowns as a gift and a haitian sea anemone, but clowns dont host to those so a couple of day later I got the green bubble tip. I tried floating the anemone near them. I put the sea anemone in their side of the tank and they looked at it but paid no attention to it. I will give those a try thank you

I like the picture idea, it's a simple and easy way to give it a shot while the bubbletip settles in. Have any pictures?

I saw a YouTube video of a guy using a clear acrylic tube and held it right above the anemone and then put the dropped the clowns into the tube. They slowly swam down right to the anemone and stayed in it. I believe it showed him doing it with 14 clowns and they all took to the anemone... they were very small clowns, so not sure if that made a difference or not.

My onyx perc took to my nems(3 BTA/1 LTA) within a few hours of putting her in the tank. A few weeks later I added a true perc. Within minutes it was playing in the LTA with the onyx. Monkey see, monkey do? Give it time. Eventually they'll find one. I do also like Dsnakes's recommendation too. I think the excitement of "new territory" could very well cause a peaked interest in your anemone

So I tired the picture and it did not work i have a clear tube that I am going to try need to wait for the bta to get a little closer to the clowns

I tried this as well for about a half hour I had to stop my clowns were getting stressed.

Well, I guess you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink! New phrase... You can lead a clown to an anemone, but you can't make it host!

Epic failure

I tried a lot of the weird stuff like showing them videos and stuff but the only thing that worked for me was feeding my nem something meaty and getting my hungry clowns to follow me as I did it. My percula made visible contact and a few hours later sure enough he kept rubbing on it. A few days later and he is almost loving it to death..
