My daughters 29gal biocubes residents are having issues. Larger of 2 false perc clowns is staying in a nose down position. She seems to be staying under a big rock formation. She came out when I dropped some flake and I noticed some white spots on her. Not suger but more hazy. Also heavy breathing but no fliking or swimming into powerhead current. Also noticed spots on orchid dottyback. More pimple like.First guess would be brook but would that explain spots on dotty? I have qt setup from previous fishues and have built up some meds. Is coppersafe right path for this? What meds, if any, should I run with? I have moved all fish to qt and wanted to make sure I am on right path. Thanks for any and all advice or suggestions. Her tank is approx 6 months old with no previous problems. Only other fish is a ym goby. She does have a peppermint shrimp but I'm not sure if that could host (troments).(?)

Hi! You could have two problems going on. It does sound like brook on the clown and I advise treating right away. The other sounds like ick but I'd like to see pictures to be sure.

Here's a couple will try and get better ones soon.

10.4. Thanx. Meds on hand now are:
Coppersafe
Metroplex
Maracyn 2
Prazipro
E.M. Erytromycin

I read your article on brook treatment and although I have Metro I might try and get other meds at lfs tomorrow and possibly get better pix in a.m. while waiting for them to open. Thanx again for all your and melyprs help.

Ideally, a formalin or acriflavine bath, followed up by QT treatment using metro would be best for treating brook.

I got a few better pix

Did the Reef Rally dip. Lfs recommended using polyp labs medic. I see it has metro along with h2o2. Do you have any experience with this and would you think a good approach.? I also alredy have regular metroplex on hand.

Thanx for your response. Hopefully we caught it early. Funny swimming (nose down, not on back wall) helped. Def not seeing skin peeling as described in most posts. She is acting better after fw dip followed by reef rally dip (24hrs later) and now in metro in the form of PL Medic. Does this sound right so far? Hate to lose another fish after the coral bueaty last time. I'm a little better prepared thanx to you and Humbles posts.

Yes. If it's actually Brook then it will continue to help. Good luck!

I looked up Polyp Lab Medic, and it lists both Metronidazole & "Peroxide acids" as active ingredients. Not sure how much good the peroxide will do, but metro is what you want in the water right now.
