I have posted an hour ago but feel I’m fighting the clock my lightning Maroon Clownfish mouth stuck open and just started rapid breathing was 100% yesterday I do have new introductions but everything seems passive tangs cardinals scooter blenny. I broke my QT tank a couple days ago and all I have is prazipro but I don’t even know if that will help anyone have advice

It's called a distended mouth. Sometimes it's caused by a coral sting, bristleworms sting, etc. or some other injury. It usually goes away in a couple of days or so.
But you could try treating the tank with Epsom salts (pure USP unscented) to help with any swelling. One tablespoon per five gallons of tank water. Can redose once after waiting a day.

Thank you I did read this before hand however it’s mouth looks open way more than the pictures I seen in other posts and just wasn’t sure. I hope he can make it until tomorrow to get the salts. Also I already have high sulfur 1104.5ppm will this impact that?

The addition of Epsom salt, magnesium sulfate to a tank may raise the mag levels a bit. The addition of sulfate effects to a tank is unknown.

Will high magnesium be bad? At 1436.2 sorry for the abundance of questions just wondering if it would be best to pick up a new QT tomorrow?

1436 is a bit high already for mag level.
Always a good idea to have a complete QT setup ready to go just needing water and bio media starter. ;)
I agree 100% on the qt tank mine broke not long ago. I have the filter and extra media(I pull from display) I will get on that first thing have a bucket that will work perfectly I already told my boss I will be late my fish is sick lol

Elevated mag even up to 2,000 would not be an issue, yours is fine.

I recall in the past reefers using epsom salts, I think it takes a pretty good amount to raise mag much, I'm sure you will be fine.

Good luck w/ clown.

Yes, some guys with fish only tanks used to routinely dose very high mag to rid tanks of algae.

Well I've done that myself a few times w/ tech M in the past, but an old school(older school than me! :) ) told me you could actually raise your mag w/ epsome salts, but said it was not really efficient or practical as it took too much to increase significantly.

I have used tech M even in my sps tanks w/out issues, up to 2,ooo, and some people I know went even higher than that, but past that level many will see inverts become lethargic, but I think it has to be pretty high to cause any real issues.

Thanks for the advice I was a little worried about it being high, unfortunately last night while I got everything ready for his transfer he didn’t make it. Which tells me it must have been something more than just a locked jaw. I fresh water dipped to see if anything came off of him and saw nothing. So confused he was my favorite he had a spartan helmet marking on his side. If it was a parasite Is it possible I just couldn’t see it “microscopic”?

Sorry for your loss, I agree with the diagnosis by @Big G. It appears it may have been a worse sting than we realized.
