So I bought a pair of clown fish 3 days ago and I wake up today and only see one in the tank. Then as I am walking by the tank I see the one laying on the floor. He jumped out of my tank.

I didn't know that clowns were jumpers?

All fish are capable and likely to jump at one point without a proper cover. I'd say it was aggression from the other clown that spooked it enough to jump trying to seek cover.

Sorry for your loss.

The female is the one left in the tank. The male is the one that jumped. The female was twice the size of the male and ever since I had them they would not separate from each other's side.
So should I go and buy another today and and it to the tank.

I have a clown in one of my tanks that loves to jump as well. When it was a Biocube he would end up in the back all the time.

Upgraded my daughters tank to a 40b and he jumped into the overflow box the other day and made his way to the sump.

As mentioned above, all fish may jump if scared.

Yeah, go get another one and build yourself a screen top if you can.

Ok yea that's what I was thinking of going and getting another to pair up with again. Now should the new one I get be smaller then the one I have in the tank.

Also I am going to look at making a lid of some sort for the tank.

I lost a really beautiful premium snowflake not too long ago

I feel ya, I lost a black ice 2 weeks ago!

Yea I know there very nice. I am just upset about it. I got one for each of my daughters. The bigger one that is left was for my 8 year old and the small one was for my 4 year old. This morning she asked where it was and I had to tell her he jumped out and passed away.

Try getting a mesh cover for your tank....like the ones you can DIY, BRS sells them

I have lost three small clowns trying to pair up my black and white. She gets all of them to jump. Even when I did not think it was possible. Sorry for your loss and your daughter's loss. It happens.

Definitely get a smaller one. The bigger one will definitely chase and torment a bigger one. Get as small as you can. I have found that the bigger the size difference the better they pair up. At least in my experience. I currently have 4 different species of clowns in my systems and my black and white ocellaris has been the worst one to try to pair up (as stated before).

Well I ended up going and getting one for her. She picked it out and I also got a coral banded shrimp and a purple tip anemone. The funny thing was when I got home and was going to start the acclimation I noticed the a anemone had a clown fish in its mouth in the bag. I've never seen this before.

It was eating it lol. Weirdest thing I e seen. 1/4 of its tail was in its mouth.

That's because it's a Condy and they're not a natural host for clownfish. It could eat your clowns as well if they try to use it as a host, as I'm assuming the now-demised clown did.

I would return the anemone and the coral banded shrimp, neither are really reef safe.

There is no skimmer in there right now. I have to get a new one. It's was going to be a fowlr tank but I decided to maybe go reef. I have a canister filter on there now with all my live rock and I have a friend who is going to build me a 20gal sump for the tank with a Hob overflow because the tank is not drilled

Everything is getting transferred over from my 20gal tank to a new 60gal tank I got.
