They have been together for two years now and the female is nipping at my cardinal fish!? If territorial, why now? Could she be trying to lay eggs? The only difference is a new addition a few days ago of a Valentini puffer fish. Full tank is two clowns, Valentini, Cardinal fish, one peppermint shrimp, cuc..

what the heck is that suppose to mean? What happened to this forum?

@Reefing Madness was just giving your question a bump to help get you an answer. Clowns are very territorial and I'm not sure there is an answer to "Why Now". Could be that she's ready to lay, has she laid before? I know mine gets really huffy when she's about to lay. Could be the new addition disrupted things just enough to push your Cardinal in to her territory. I would just keep an eye on them and see how it settles out.

Clowns are weird.

He was being kind in bringing your post up front again to receive more views.

Not unusual for a maturing clown to begin this type of aggression, it's their nature. I have had the exact same thing occur but my female ripped my Fire Shrimp limb from limb, and then proceeded to relentlessly hunt down my yellow tail damsel.

Sorry about that guys, truly. If you look at my past posts you can see I'm not a butthead. I'm just really stressed right now.

Problem solved. I moved the pair of clowns to my 120 with the volitan and five monos. Lion fish isn't interested and the monos seem relaxed. Hopefully cardinal will regrow his fins. Valentino is happy. Again sorry about the snappy response earlier. I've had these guys for years. They are family.
